Water VS Air VS Electric Bed Heating Systems: What’s Best?
Water VS Air VS Electric Bed Heating Systems: What’s Best?
What’s actually the most effective way of transferring temperature (hot or cold) to a human body during the night? What bed heating systems are available on the market and which is best? Well, the options you’re probably familiar with, are air conditioning or even spraying water on yourself if you need to cool down.
What you’ll notice is that if you have air conditioning for example, it can be hard to get the balance right.
This is because when we fall asleep, our bodies naturally cycle through various temperatures, starting with warm and moving to cold throughout the night. This is called the Circadian Rhythm.

Bed Heating System-Which Is Best?
This means you can’t always just set your air conditioning to a certain temperature and leave it.
That just won’t solve the problem.
You must be able to lower your body’s temperature throughout the night to enable you to reach deeper sleep stages.
What Are The Options
We’ll get onto the best way of doing that in a minute. For now let’s consider which cooling or heating system is the cheapest to run and most cost effective, over the long term.
Here are the options we’re mainly comparing in this article:
1. Water Based Systems Like The Perfect Sleep Pad
Bed Heating System

2. Air based systems like A/C, Fans or the Bedjet
Cooling Tempurpedic Mattress Topper
3. Electric Heating Blankets
Heated Sleeping Pad

This makes it the obvious choice, especially when it’s a lot cheaper as well. Systems like Bedjet use up to 1500 watts, which is quite high. It’s especially high when you compare it with the power consumption of the Perfect Sleep Pad, using only 80 watts!
Which Works Better?
As we’ve said, water transfers heat better than air, but it’s also very effective at transferring cold as well. The Perfect Sleep Pad is able to transfer temperatures of 8C, all the way up to 48C which is a lot hotter/colder than most devices can manage.
This means the Sleep Pad is able to give you a massive range of temperatures, and it’s more effectively transferred, AND it’s cheaper.
In terms of what works better, you have to consider what you’re using it for.

In any situation, the Perfect Sleep Pad works better. It’s able to give a bigger temperature range, it transfers that temperature more effectively to your body, AND it’s all a lot cheaper to run. This is big, considering how expensive air conditioning is, and how many people around the world depend on air conditioning to stay cool, especially in the hot summer months while they sleep.
Also, consider that the Perfect Sleep Pad is able to monitor your body temperature and adjust accordingly so you always get a perfectly balanced and optimal temperature based on the actual temperature it senses your body is at.
What’s Better For You?
So it’s clear that water based systems are more effective, and cheaper to run. But what’s better for your health?
Well, we can’t speak much for air based systems like air conditioning but for electric based systems, there are some things to be said.

Electric based systems produce what are known as EMFs or Electromagnetic frequencies.
These frequencies have been shown to be very dangerous long term, and should be reduced as much as possible.
So you have to think, do you really want to be sleeping on a device giving off these harmful frequencies? Another thing to think about is that as well as being potentially harmful, electric systems often can’t even cool you down either! They mainly just heat you up, whereas Perfect Sleep Pad can do both.
What Do The Experts Have To Say?
A study has been conducted (https://www.drweil.com/health-wellness/body-mind-spirit/cancer/can-heating-pads-cause-cancer/) in which Andrew Weil (MD) said:
“Because we can’t say for sure that EMFs pose no risks, I would advise you to use a non-electric heating pad, such as one that you warm up in hot water or in the microwave.”.
This shows that there is a growing amount of concern for things like EMFs and it’s just not worth the risk.
There are all sorts of videos and articles showing the dangers of EMFs and long term exposure, so it’s always better to stay on the side of caution.
This is especially important when you’re literally sleeping on such a device every night.
Dr Andrew Weil

There’s also a link between some types of electrical blankets and heated blankets, and types of Cancer. It’s really worth being careful with this sort of thing, especially because you’re sleeping so close to these types of device.
Another annoying thing about air based bed systems like Bedjet, is that people have reported it blowing the sheets off the bed! This sort of sleep interruption is obviously not good and can leave you feeling groggy the next day.
What About Practicality?
Well, this is another area which Perfect Sleep Pad excels in. I’m talking about noise here, and as you probably know, air conditioning and fans are noisy. In fact many people have to turn them off in the middle of the night because they’re too loud, and it stops people sleeping.

The Perfect Sleep Pad is much quieter than most devices, air based systems and even most electrical systems too, so you can just focus on sleeping.
On top of that, there’s no annoying jet of air blowing around your bed or through the covers. It’s actually very comfortable to sleep on! You just put the sleeping pad underneath the top sheet of your bed and pretend it’s not there!
What’s The Solution?
We’re just about to release a new solution called the High Performance Sleep Pad which is able to get colder than anything else on the market.
We really think it’s another game changer and it is clearly the best option compared to the alternatives like air conditioning, electric systems and so on.
The High Performance Sleep Pads also excel in Cryotherapy applications.
